Wednesday morning the temperature is expected to be 16 to 20 degrees as a low with the wind chill making it feel like 0 to 5 degrees. As everyone enjoys a cold day, its important to remember that there are less fortunate people in the county who still need help.

The LaGrange-Troup County Homeless Coalition’s Warming Center opens when the temperature drops below 37 degrees between 5 p.m. and 8 a.m. This week it will be open through at least Friday, Jan. 19.  Currently, the center is needing microwavable meals, soft drinks and overnight volunteers. Those interested in volunteering can visit www.tchomeless.com to help. If anyone needs help going to the warming center, they can call 911 or go to the LaGrange Police Department where an officer can give them a ride to the center. The LaGrange Housing Authority also offers free transportation for the center.

As cold and unbearable as it gets during the winter for most of us, it’s even more tough on those without homes. Helping in any way through volunteering or donating makes an impact on lives in the county. The center is located at 150 East Lukken Industrial Drive in LaGrange.
