This weekend will offer plenty of fun and opportunities for anyone ready to get out of the house after this week’s snow days.

For history lovers, the Troup County Historical Society Archives and Legacy Museum on Main will host a photo preservation workshop at 10 a.m. on Saturday.

At the workshop, archives director and archivist Shannon Johnson will demonstrate the best practices for protecting and preserving family photos. Participants are invited to bring heirloom documents or photographs for inspection, repair tips and storage recommendations.

The class will cost $12 for members of the Troup County Historical Society and $15 for non-members. For more information or to register, call (706) 884-1828.

Children can have fun this weekend at Super Saturday at the LaGrange Art Museum from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. The event is sponsored by the Junior Service League and is free to the public.

If you are looking for a little Vegas style fun for a great cause, the Junior Service League of LaGrange will host its third annual Casino Night at Highland Country Club at 7 p.m. on Saturday.

Along with the Junior Service League, the event is sponsored by WellStar West Georgia, Advertising Made Easy, Charter Bank and Emory Clark-Holder Clinic, and the event will benefit Circles of Troup County, a local group that aims to eliminate the causes of poverty and support those wishing to lift themselves out of poverty.

Finally, the Miss Troup County Scholarship Pageant will take place at the Troup County Fine Arts Auditorium at 7 p.m. on Saturday. The winner of the pageant will go on to compete in the Miss Georgia Pageant, which leads into the Miss America Pageant.

During this year’s pageant, 15 local girls will compete for the crown and the scholarship money using their talents and public speaking skills to impress the judges.
