Questions were answered and dresses were worn as 15 young women competed in the Miss Troup County Scholarship Pageant and Miss Troup County’s Outstanding Teen Pageant Saturday night. Lizzy Stanford won Miss Troup County and Rebecca Zhang won Miss Troup County’s Outstanding Teen and will go on to compete at the Miss Georgia pageants in June.

“I think we have two wonderful representatives and they’re going to do fabulous at Miss Georgia,” said pageant organizer Judy Neighbors. “They’re both dancers so that’s wonderful.”

The competition is hosted by the Miss Troup County Scholarship Board, which gives educational scholarships to the winners and runner-ups.

Stanford, a sophomore psychology major at the University of Georgia, previously held a title as Miss West Point Lake Outstanding Teen.

“It’s just so exciting to have the opportunity to be part of this organization again and just to have this experience,” Stanford said. “It was so much fun, and I’m so excited for what’s to come in June.

Zhang is an eighth-grade student at River Trail Middle School in Johns Creek.

“I’m just completely mind blown because this is actually my first pageant ever,” Zhang said. “I’m so excited to work with the board of directors. I’ve been told that the Miss Troup County Scholarship Board is tremendous, and I’m really excited to go to Miss Georgia, so everything’s really exciting.”
