CB&T continues tradition of giving as Synovus

On Monday, Synovus Bank, formerly CB&T, unveiled its new signage to match the name that the bank took on last year.

Synovus has been switching the names of its 28 banks over to the same name to make them easier for customers to identify since last year. Despite the change, the LaGrange branch plans to continue to support the community the same way that it has for years, and the branch’s staff made that fact clear by celebrating the rebranding with a check for $1,000 to Twin Cedars Youth and Family Services.

As CB&T, the bank has had two employees compete in the annual Twin Cedars fundraiser to be Queens of the Mask, and this year Ashley McWhorter is competing for that title as the representative for Synovus. According to the bank’s management, the company will retain the same appearance and staff, and only the name will change.

“Synovus is a single company with a single culture and a singular focus on service,” said Frank McRae Jr., market president. “When I’m asked why, the answer is because the time is right, and because we take the time to do it right to make sure that the transition is seamless and the customer will benefit.”

Local representatives from the LaGrange-Troup County Chamber of Commerce and the city were excited that the bank will retain the same employees and culture of service to the community.

“What I think is most notable to me as mayor is that wherever I go, and whenever I am at an event whether it is a Twin Cedars event or (LaGrange-Troup County) Chamber (of Commerce) event or United Way — whatever the occasion is, I know that Synovus is always going to be one of the lead sponsors of that event,” Mayor Jim Thornton said. “Because you do well and you are in business as a bank. You are all about making money for both yourself and your customers, but you also know that you’re part of a community, and you are part of Troup County and the City of LaGrange, and you have given back so much over the years.”
