LaGrange High has found its man.

A search that began more than two months ago has ended, and Chuck Gibbs has been named the new head football coach at LaGrange.

Gibbs’ name was submitted for approval on Monday during a meeting of the Troup County Board of Education.

The board members unanimously offered their approval, making the hiring official.

Gibbs, who was a standout athlete at Auburn High before playing football at Army in the early 90s, has been the head coach at Scottsdale Christian Academy for the past four years.

It was an exhaustive search, and LaGrange athletics director Mike Pauley said the school had a lot of outstanding candidates to choose from.

“It was such a blessing of the quality of men (who applied),” Pauley said. “For us to be able to recommend (Gibbs), it’s exciting.”

Gibbs enjoyed a successful stint at Scottsdale Christian Academy in Phoenix.

Gibbs’ teams had a 31-14 record the past four seasons, and that was the most wins during any four-year stretch in the school’s 50-year history.

In 2016, Scottsdale went 10-3 and reached the state quarterfinals for the first time in school history.

The team went 10-3 again last year.

Gibbs will be re-locating to LaGrange along with his wife, Raquel, and their two children, Keona and Kale.

“It’s a new season of life, a new chapter, and we’re excited,” Gibbs said.
