Lady Cavaliers get region win

COLUMBUS – The Callaway Lady Cavaliers ended a two-game losing streak in region play with a 49-37 road win over Jordan on Tuesday.

Callaway improved to 4-2 in Region 5-AA, and it is in a tie for second place heading into today’s game against Heard County.

Haley Holliday led a balanced scoring attack for Callaway with 11 points, and she had six of those points during the fourth quarter.

Chyna Cameron added 10 points, Trinity Hill scored eight points, and Leijorey Sanders and Qua Beasley had seven and six points, respectively.

In Tuesday’s boys’ game, Jordan outscored Callaway 28-11 in the second period on the way to a 74-56 victory.

JaVontay Boddie led Callaway with 15 points, Kedrick Ramsey scored 14 points, and Demetrius Coleman had 13 points.

Jordan turned the game in its favor in the second quarter when it outscored Callaway 28-11 to take a 44-24 at the half.

The Cavaliers outscored the Red Jackets 32-30 in the second half, but they were unable to make much of a dent in their deficit.

The Cavaliers fell to 1-5 in the region.

Callaway will host Heard County today, with the girls’ game tipping off at 6 p.m., and the boys’ game to follow.
