It’s a big day for the Callaway Lady Cavaliers.

If Callaway beats Spencer today, it would finish the regular season as the number two seed, and it would earn a bye into the region-tournament semifinals.

If the Lady Cavaliers lose today, they could still finish second, but they could also fall to third or fourth, meaning they’d have to win a road game to make it to the semifinals and secure their spot in the state tournament.

Callaway improved to 6-3 in the region with Tuesday’s 41-40 win over Temple, and it has won three of its past four games following a three-game losing streak.

One of those losses came at Spencer, with Callaway falling 43-40.

Lamar County (8-1) has wrapped up the region’s top seed, and Callaway (6-3), Heard County (6-3) and Spencer (5-4) are in contention for the second spot.

Callaway owns the tie-breaker over Heard County since it swept both regular-season meetings.

Temple (2-7) and Jordan (0-9) will finish fifth and sixth.

On the boys’ side, Callaway (3-6) needs a victory over Spencer today to finish as high as fourth in the region.

Spencer (7-2) can sew up the top seed with a win today, and Temple (6-3) and Jordan (6-3) are close behind.

Callaway (3-6) and Heard County (3-6) are tied for fourth, and Lamar County (1-8) is sixth.
