LaGrange tennis teams roll in openers

LaGrange High’s boys’ and girls’ tennis teams opened the season in style with dominant wins over East Coweta at McCluskey Tennis Center on Tuesday.

In the girls’ match, LaGrange went unbeaten on the way to a 5-0 victory, while the boys’ team won 4-1.

On the girls’ side, Wone Mi Oh got things started with a 6-4, 6-4 win over Zaria Palmer at number one singles.

Annie Pauley beat Lauren Hollenbeck 6-3, 6-1 at number two singles, and Youngju Cho blanked McKenna Lowin 6-0, 6-0 at number three singles.

At number one doubles, Abbi Lynn Lanier and Ella Eiland handled Blasia Childs and Alaina Marett 6-0, 6-0, and Jina Shin and Kelsey Anne Cadenhead beat Sunny Lee and Martina Laso 6-1, 6-2.

In the boys’ match, Jackson Kuerzi secured a hard-earned victory at number one singles against Luke Hoegger, winning both sets in tiebreaks.

At number two singles, Pierce Skinner outlasted Phillip Connaway 7-5, 6-3, and Youngha Cho handled Jon Warren 6-2, 6-1.

At number one doubles, James Lee and Baker Skinner beat Noah Phaff and Joe Lanave 6-1, 7-5.

East Coweta’s lone win came at number two doubles, with Daehun Im and Daniel Arellano beating Albert Kim and Youngjin Shin 6-3, 4-6, (10-7).
