Mr. Raymond Donald “Donnie” Lanier, 83, of LaGrange, Georgia passed away Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2018, at Hospice LaGrange.

Donnie was born Jan. 30, 1935, in LaGrange, Georgia, The son of Thomas Herman Lanier and Lola Harrison Lanier. He was preceded in death by both parents and his brother, Thomas Herman Jr.  During his high school years, he was the 53-54 state Class C Championship MVP and later attended Young Harris College on a basketball scholarship.   Donnie was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. He was a member Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church and was retired from Norfolk Southern Railroad.

Survivors include his son, Raymond Alvin Lanier and his wife Donna Mae Lanier; daughter, Donna Lanier Stallings and her husband Roy Stallings; grandchildren, Anna and Brandon Stallings; sister, Martha Ann Schuman; former wife, Seba Lanier; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 8, 2018, at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church with the Rev. Nelson Furtado officiating. Burial will follow in Shadowlawn Cemetery.  The gathering of family and friends will be Wednesday 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, LaGrange, Georgia, in memory of Mr. Raymond Donald Lanier.
