Louise Miller Avery

Mrs. Louise Miller Avery passed away Tuesday in Jacksonville, Florida.

The celebration of life service will be held Saturday at noon at the New Harmony Christian Methodist Episcopal Church on the Adams Road in West Point.  Pastor John Pollard will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Avery, a native of West Point, was the daughter of Hattie Billingslea Miller and the youngest of six daughters. She was a 1954 graduate of 10th Street High School and became a licensed beautician and stylist in Atlanta for more than 45 years. Louise joined the New Harmony C.M.E. Church early in her life and later joined Mount Vernon Baptist Church in Newark, New Jersey.  She attended Pine Tree Park Baptist Church in Fairburn. She later returned to Fairburn, Georgia, after her husband, Charles Avery passed away.

She was preceded in death by four siblings: Alice Billingslea, Rosetta Stephens, Clorine Lovelace and Lottie Gilliam.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her loving sister, Everlena Anderson, Fairburn, Georgia; nephews, Bennie Anderson (Linda), Albert Gilliam Jr. (Mary), Edward Jerome Gilliam (Carolyn), Norris Gilliam (Debbie), Maurice Lovelace (Dana), Terry Gilliam (Zuleika), Anthony Stephens and Michael Stephens (Eddie); nieces, Mae Felix, Elizabeth Lovelace, Deborah Stephens, Linda McMillon, Gloria Gilliam, Angela Gilliam, Twanda Taylor (Victor) and Tanya Gilliam; step children, Bessie Avery-Ziegler and Shawn Moore (Brenda); sister-in-law, Margaret Faulk; special grand niece, Deidre McMillon Parrish; special grand nephews, Monte Gilliam and David McMillon; many other grand nieces, grand nephews, cousins and friends.

The family will be at the home of her nephew, Albert and Mary Gilliam at 119 Clearview Drive.   

Lakes-Dunson-Robertson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
