LaGrange drops pair of road games

The LaGrange Grangers continued their challenging early-season schedule with road games against Cairo and Colquitt County over the weekend.

On Friday, LaGrange (0-3) lost to Cairo 7-1, and it fell to Colquitt County 7-3 on Saturday.

In Saturday’s game, Colquitt scored six of its run in the fourth inning, and it added a single run in the third inning.

The Grangers finished with nine hits, but they could only manage single runs in the third, sixth and seventh innings.

Trent Bailey had two hits for LaGrange, and John Morgan and Wesley Kuhn each had a hit and an RBI.

Cole Freeman, Will Alford and Seth Prather each had hits for LaGrange.

John Morgan started and pitched the first three innings, and Ben Stogner threw the final three innings.

In Friday’s game, LaGrange scored a run in the top of the first inning to take the early lead, but Cairo tied it with a run in the second before breaking it open with five runs in the third inning.

Bailey had two of LaGrange’s four hits with an RBI, and Freeman and Stogner each had hits.

Brant Williams, Cole Sanders, Kuhn and Walton Lanier all pitched for LaGrange.

LaGrange is on the road against Northside-Columbus today, and it will host Columbus High on Wednesday.
