Ruby Tuesday in LaGrange has closed

Ruby Tuesday in LaGrange has closed its doors, according to a sign on the restaurant’s doors Monday morning.
“This location has closed. Please visit us at our Newnan location,” the sign read. “We look forward to seeing you there!”
A manager with the restaurant would not give her name, but verified the store served customers Sunday night and officially closed today.
“It is closed already,” she said. “For further information you’re going to have to wait until the company issues an official press release.”
Calls to Ruby Tuesday’s media relations line were unanswered on Monday. The LDN was sent an email from a representative from ICR, Inc., a media relations company, on behalf of Ruby Tuesday.
“As part of our routine review of our store portfolio, we have made the difficult decision to close our LaGrange, GA restaurant,” the statement read. “We appreciate the dedication of all our team members and the community’s support over the years.”
The restaurant’s listing on Google changed to “permanently closed” after lunch on Monday and the LaGrange location had been completely removed from the Ruby Tuesday website.
According to LaGrange Daily News archives, Ruby Tuesday opened at its location on Morgan Street in the summer of 1998.
- Page Estes, LaGrange-Troup County Chamber of Commerce president, said the chamber hates to see any restaurant close in LaGrange, but that the location on Morgan Street has a lot of potential.
“We hate to see any viable restaurant close, but we know from the national perspective that several chains have faced some difficulties,” Estes said.
“For us the key will be trying to find someone to go back and fill that location because it’s a great location, centrally located, and we certainly want to make sure we are providing as many options as we can for our residents and for our visitors.”
On Dec. 21, Ruby Tuesday announced it had been acquired by NRD Capital, an Atlanta-based private equity firm that specializes in franchise and multi-location business investments.
As of Dec. 1, there were 596 Ruby Tuesday locations in 41 states, 14 foreign countries and Guam. The majority of those restaurants — 541 of them — were owned and operated by Ruby Tuesday. The others were franchisee restaurants.
Over the last few years, more than 100 Ruby Tuesday restaurants have closed nationally.
