Carolyn Reid Starnes, 78, of Lubbock, passed away Monday, March 5, 2018.

We will gather for a celebration of her life from 2  p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, March 17, 2018, at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers. A tribute of Carolyn’s life may be found at www.memorialdesigners.net, where you may leave memories and expressions of sympathy for her family.

Carolyn was born on Aug. 8, 1939, to Everette and Annabelle (Featherstone) Reid in Lowell, North Carolina. On Oct. 4, 1959, Carolyn married the love of her life, Bobby Starnes in Lowell, North Carolina.

After graduating from nursing school, Bobby and Carolyn moved many places throughout his careers in the U.S. Navy and with Hughes Aircraft. They collected many dear friends with whom she remained in contact throughout her whole life. Carolyn continued to develop deep friendships in Pennsylvania and Texas. After moving to Lubbock, Texas, Carolyn became active with the Lubbock Lions Club and the UMC Activities Center Exercise Group, making many new friends including her sweet neighbors. Carolyn was a devoted Christian, daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt and ultimately, grandmommy. She didn’t know a stranger, had the biggest heart in the world, loving to give to all she knew and anyone in need. Her pastors wife quoted “Our fingerprints don’t fade from the lives we’ve touched,” and she touched so very many.

Carolyn’s family includes her two daughters, Melinda Carol Davis and husband, Doug; and Anna Margaret Phillips, all of Lubbock, Texas; grandchildren, Jacob Burkholder and wife, Summer of Lubbock, Texas; Daniel Burkholder and wife, Karem of Galveston, Texas; Samuel Phillips and wife, Emily of Chester Springs, Penslyvania; and Hannah Phillips of Lubbock, Texas; two sisters, Daphene Reid of Cramerton, North Carolina, and Annette Carpenter of Lowell, North Carolina; sister-in- law, Betty Merritt of North Carolina; along with many beloved nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bobby F. Starnes; and two brothers, Wayne Reid and Everette Reid, Jr.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in memory of Carolyn are welcomed. The family suggests these be made to Texas Lions Camp at www.lionscamp.com/Donations.html or the Turning Point Community Church’s mission fund for Living Water International, 11202 Quaker Ave., Lubbock, Texas 79424.
