How to help during MS Awareness Week

Over the last few years, the Bike MS ride has taken place in LaGrange, bringing hundreds of people through our city in an effort to raise awareness for the disease. Many locals who suffer from the disease took part in that ride, which hopefully will be back in LaGrange again next year.

This week is MS Awareness Week, making it another important one for the 2.3 million people worldwide who suffer from multiple sclerosis.

Campaigns are taking place all over the country and the closest to LaGrange is taking place in Columbus.

MS is a disease of the central nervous system that interrupts the flow of information with the brain.

Symptoms can range from numbness and tingling to blindness and paralysis.

There’s a lot of information online at the National MS Society website, including ways you can learn more about the disease and help others understand it more.

Just about all of us probably know someone affected by MS.

We hope you’ll take a few minutes this week to learn more about the disease. For information on how to donate to research the disease, visit www.nationalmssociety.org.
