Mrs. Annie S. “Dean” Hayes

Mrs. Annie S. “Dean” Hayes, age 85, of LaGrange, Georgia passed away on Sunday March 11, 2018, at WellStar West Georgia Medical Center in LaGrange, Georgia.

Mrs. Hayes was born on Oct. 5, 1932, in Randolph County, Alabama to the late Leon and Lillie Knight Strong.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Hayes; her sister, Catherine Smith; her stepson, Roger Hayes;  and her sister-in-law, Jean Jernigan.

She was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church in West Point, Georgia.

Mrs. Hayes lived in West Point, Georgia and Lanett, Alabama for over 50 years.  She retired from West Point Pepperell after 40 years of service.  After her retirement, she enjoyed attending her church, visiting with her friends and family, and taking care of her “grandpets.”  She moved to LaGrange, Georgia in 2002 to live during her retirement years.

She is survived by her sons, Stanley D. (Marie) Hester, LaGrange, Ronnie (Sally) Hayes, Canton, Georgia; sister, Leona Lake, Opelika; brother, John Winston Strong, West Point, Georgia; and numerous grandpets.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 14, 2018, at 2 p.m. EDT at the Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home Chapel in Valley with interment following in Marseilles Cemetery in West Point, Georgia.  Her family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Tuesday evening from 6 p.m. EDT until 8 p.m. EDT and on Wednesday afternoon from 1 p.m. EDT until the service hour.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made in her memory to the American Cancer Society.
