LaGrange police are investigating a suspicious fire that occurred at a storage building at the 700 block of Swanson Street Saturday around 2:14 p.m. The LaGrange Fire Department responded to the scene, and the fire was put out by 2:24 p.m., according to LFD Lt. Rob Vael.

According to the police report, the building was a total loss. The owner told police the building was valued at $3,600 and the contents inside were valued at $1,500.

A woman told police she was in her residence when her daughter told her that the storage building was on fire. After opening the building, she tried to use the water hose inside, but the fire became too intense, according to the police report. Vael said the cause of the fire is undetermined, but said it was suspicious because of the patterns on the backside of the building and because a fuel can was found in the area.
