The LaGrange Academy Warriors beat Lafayettte Christian School 7-2 on Friday for their first win of the season.

In the game that was played at the Harris Baseball Complex, Joseph Calhoun pitched a complete-game three-hitter, and LaGrange Academy banged out 12 hits of its own.

After dropping their first four games of the season, the Warriors were happy to finally put one in the win column.

“This was our fifth game, and it was the first time we played a complete game,” LaGrange Academy coach Brandon Lybrand said. “We didn’t have any errors. We played really well defensively. (Calhoun) pitched a complete game. And we hit the ball.  We’ve really hit the ball the last two games. I’m really proud of the guys the way they played.”

In addition to his good work on the mound, Calhoun also got it done at the plate with three hits and a walk, and he stole three bases.

Mason Brown was 3-of-4 with an RBI, and Brent Kardoes had two hits.

Luke Swann had an RBI triple, Daniel Swann had an RBI hit, and Braden Haynes had a sacrifice fly.

For Lafayette Christian, Justin Moore had a solo home run, and Zach Thompson had a hit and an RBI.

Cason Firth also had a hit for the Cougars.

Moore pitched four innings for the Cougars, and Jacob Karvelas threw the final three innings.
