Mr. Lonnie P. Yearta, Jr., 77, of LaGrange, Georgia passed away Saturday, March 17, 2018, at Emory Hospital, Atlanta, Georgia. Mr. Yearta was born Dec. 7, 1940, in Chambers County, Alabama, son of the late Lonnie Powell Yearta, Sr. and Annie Laurie Jones Yearta. He was a graduate of LaGrange High School and was employed with Bellsouth and AT&T as a special service technician before retiring. Mr. Yearta had a passion for working on cars and working in the yard. He was a veteran of the Army National Guard.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Linda Yearta; son, Lane (Tina) Yearta; brother, Mac (Debbie) Yearta; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Lamar and Patty Campbell; grandchildren, Anna (Trey) Rogers and Courtney Barber; and four great grandchildren.

Celebration of life services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 21, 2018, in the chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary with Rev. Max McCord officiating. Burial will follow in Shadowlawn Cemetery. The gathering of family and friends will be on Tuesday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
