Troup soccer teams fall to Central

The Central-Carroll Lions scored a goal in overtime to beat the Troup Tigers 2-1 on Friday night in a Region 5-AAAA soccer showdown.

Troup got a goal from Oscar Lopez-Garcia in regulation, and Central-Carroll scored the lone goal in overtime to secure the region win.

Troup fell to 1-4 in the region with one region game remaining.

In Friday’s girls’ game, it was Central-Carroll capturing a 9-0 victory.

LAGRANGE: LaGrange’s girls’ team took a big step toward a second consecutive Region 5-AAAA championship with a 3-2 road win over Chapel Hill on Friday.

LaGrange is now 4-0 in the region with two region games remaining.

Malone Aldridge, Abby Mazzolini and Sydney Ormsby scored LaGrange’s goals.

Caroline Thompson had two assists, and Sydney Ormsby had one.

In the boys’ game, LaGrange moved to 4-0 in region play with a 6-1 win.
