Great article, Daniel, “Students deserve to have their voices heard.” I couldn’t agree more. Students absolutely deserve to have their voices heard.

You identify as a millennial which means you were born between the years 1981 and 1996. Wow, you have a lifetime of experience. Students who participated in the protest for gun control, your words not mine, should have been born after 1996 which makes them pro-millennials.

Here is what bugs me Daniel. Why in the world would those born before 1981 think they should have any say in what goes on in our country? These old folks just don’t get it. They should get out of the way, keep quiet and turn everything over to the enlightened ones — those born after 1981, those with a lifetime of experience.

I really seethe when I hear them talking about serving their country in World War II, Korea and Vietnam. Somehow, they think I should be grateful to them. So, they had to pay for their own college education, insurance, and child care, big deal. Why should the millennials have to suffer due to their ignorance?

Is it our fault that they chose not to be dependent on the government and respectful of others? I really don’t understand where these folks get off. But get off they must. Cameron Kasky, the face of the youth gun control movement, isn’t concerned. He commented that these folks who oppose gun control are old and will die off, and he will win in the end. I wonder if Cameron or any of the other students can recall the words of Nikita Khrushchev?

“We will take America without firing a shot … we will bury you! We can’t expect the American people to jump from capitalism to communism, but we can assist their elected leaders in giving them small doses of socialism, until they awaken one day to find that they have communism. We do not have to invade the United States, we will destroy you from within.”

My granddaughter was one of the organizers of the assembly at Troup High in support of school safety. Note that I did not say protest or gun control. I supported her and applauded her for participating. Her voice was heard.

Daniel, your rights end where my rights begin. I have the right to possess arms, and I also have the responsibility to protect our students. Common ground can be found if only we do not tilt to the left or right.

You wanted me to remind you of which group is supposed to be adults.

Adults are the ones that have arrived at full development or maturity, especially in size, strength, or intellectual capacity. Are the students adults? Are you an adult?
