Troup outscores Sandy Creek

TYRONE – The Sandy Creek Patriots rallied from five runs down to take the lead, but it was the Troup Tigers walking away with an 11-8 victory on Tuesday in a Region 5-AAAA game.

Troup surged to a 5-0 lead with five runs in the top of the second inning, but Sandy Creek tied it with five runs in the bottom of the third before going on top with two runs in the fourth.

Troup answered with four runs in the fifth to reclaim the lead, this time for good.

Garrett Casey had a pair of doubles for Troup, and he had two RBIs.

Ryan Bliss and Kenly Bridwell each had two hits and an RBI, and Caleb McCurry had a hit and two RBIs.

Colby Williams had two hits and a run scored, Ethan Morton had one hit and an RBI, Luke Purnell knocked in a run, and Cooper Doughman had a hit.

Colton Greathouse was the winning pitcher in relief of Brantly Robinson, and Williams threw three shutout innings in relief to get the save.
