A 12-year-old student was arrested for making terroristic threats at the Burwell Psychoeducational Center Thursday. The student was removed from a bus at the school on Fort Drive around 3:40 p.m., according to the police report.

The juvenile began cursing and threatening to bring a gun to school and shoot everybody, according to the police report. He also said he would blow the school up, according to the police report.

LaGrange Police Sgt. Robert Kirby said this was the third case this month where a student has made a threat to a school. Kirby said the police department is still investigating the incident and is holding people accountable for terroristic threats.

“We’re not taking chances on that anymore,” Kirby said. “We’ve seen that mistake around the country too many times.”

Burwell Psychoeducational Center was reached for comment by phone Friday afternoon. The person who answered said administrators were out for the day and a previous call seeking comment was not returned.

VEHICLE ENTERED

Two juveniles were arrested for entering an auto Thursday at the parking deck on 100 Haralson Street between 6:20 p.m. and 6:39 p.m. A wallet and a knife were allegedly taken from a locked vehicle, according to the police report.

The vehicle owner told police when she returned to put her credit card in her wallet, she discovered the car had been broken into. She said her daughter’s knife is shaped like a gun until you take the holster off and see the blade.

According to the police report, an officer was looking for two juveniles in the area and later located them and detained them. The juveniles were taken back to the police station and were arrested and charged with entering an auto, according to LPD Sgt. Robert Kirby.

Another officer found several items missing from the vehicle were found in the parking garage, according to the police report.
