Elementary school student brought marijuana on bus

LaGrange police are currently investigating after a Whitesville Road Elementary student brought suspected marijuana on a bus Friday morning. According to the police report, a student showed a bag of suspected marijuana to other students and gave it to the bus monitor when she asked about it.

The student told the bus monitor that his father had given him the bag and he didn’t know what the substance was, according to the police report. According to LPD Sgt. William Nelson, no arrests had been made as of Monday afternoon.

The school’s principal told police they would not pursue criminal charges for the incident. Troup County DFACS was also contacted, according to the police report. Nelson did not say the child’s age.

Woman arrested for drunk driving with children in back seat

Lacey Kilgore, 35, was arrested for alleged drunk driving with two children in the vehicle on Hamilton Road Saturday around 8:37 p.m.

According to the police report, an officer was patrolling Interstate 85 near exit 14 when he noticed a vehicle crossing the fog line before getting off the interstate and traveling on Hamilton Road. The vehicle kept swerving on Hamilton, according to the police report. The police officer conducted a traffic stop and noticed the smell of alcohol on Kilgore’s breath.

Kilgore blew a .20 blood alcohol content in a breathalyzer test, according to the police report.

According to the Troup County Jail Arrest/Release reports, Kilgore was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, endangering a child by DUI under 14 years of age and failure to maintain lane.

Man arrested for cocaine possession

A man was arrested for cocaine possession on Saturday morning.

Lekeldric Anderson, 33, was arrested for cocaine possession at the 500 block of Hamilton Road Saturday around 2:24 a.m. According to the police report, an officer pulled over a vehicle for having its high beam headlights on. When talking to the driver, the officer noticed the smell of marijuana coming from the vehicle and asked Anderson, the front seat passenger for his ID.

Anderson said he did not have his ID but told him his name was Dasmon and gave him a date of birth. According to the police report, the name and date of birth did not match when officers searched for him.

Anderson gave his real name and officers discovered he had a warrant for failure to appear, according to the police report.  After arresting him, officers attempted to search him and he began to resist, according to the police report. Officers found a bag with suspected cocaine in his pocket, according to the police report.  Police also found suspected marijuana in Anderson’s jacket, which was in the back of the vehicle. Anderson said the marijuana was his, according to the police report.

Police also found a set of digital scales between the passenger seat and center console.  According to the police report, the driver was issued a warning for failure to dim high beams and window tint violation. Anderson was charged with failure to appear, possession of a drug related object, obstruction, cocaine possession and marijuana possession, according the Troup County Jail arrest/release reports. His bond was $13,500.
