On Sunday, fashion and hair will help raise funds for local people with illnesses. The Hair for a Cause’s sixth annual fashion and hair show will fundraise for Nedra Nekia Andrews and Sheneka Lynch-Lewis.

“It’s a show put on to help out recipients from the community who are suffering, usually from terminal illnesses,” said coordinator Veneka Williams Cameron.

The event will feature local boutiques and stylists. The show will also include a tribute to founder LaQuita Harmon’s mother, who passed away from cancer last year, Cameron said.

“The main thing is it’s just a show for the community. They pay, they come and they see local hairstylists and barbers showcase their talents,” Cameron said.

Cameron said about 500 to 600 people go to the fashion show every year.

Tickets are $20 for regular seating and $35 for VIP seats. VIP tickets include first and second row seating along with a meal and goodie bag. The fashion show will be at the Callaway Conference Center on Fort Drive at 4 p.m.

If you’d prefer to watch sports instead, the USA South Spring Sports Festival is being hosted in Troup County this weekend. Approximately 1,000 collegiate athletes are competing in baseball, softball, golf, tennis and lacrosse at local sports complexes, such as Callaway Stadium and Highland Country Club.

The Hillside Arts, Music and Food Festival will be held Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The festival is free to the public. The fourth annual event will feature live music from local artists.   

The Young Singers of West Georgia will perform Music in Living Color Saturday. The choir has more than 100 singers. Performances are at New Community Church on 1200 South Davis Road at 3 and 6 p.m. Tickets are $12 for adults and $8 for students.
