John Robert Burks passed away Thursday.

He was born May 4, 1936, the late Johnnie and Florine Burks.

He graduated from Ethel W. Kight High School. He was a retired truck driver and also worked in the textile industry.

He was a faithful member of Louise United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his son, James (Angela) Burks; four grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; two brothers, Walter Lehman (Montez) Burks of Chattanooga, Tennessee and Raleigh (Jean) Burks of Brandon, Mississippi; two sisters, Ernestine Arnold of Southfield, Michigan and Beverly Kenneybrew of Mountville, Georgia; aunts, Doris Brown of Mountville, Georgia and Rose Burks of Detroit, Michigan; two brothers-in-law, James Morgan and J. C. Bray; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The service will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at Branch Hebron Baptist Church.

The family will be at their home at 44 John Burks Road.
