The Troup Tigers hit three home runs, but it was Auburn High earning the 16-6 home win on Thursday.

For the second straight day, Troup’s Ryan Bliss led off a game with a home run, and Colby Williams and Cooper Doughman each went deep as well.

Caleb McCurry had three hits, including a pair of doubles, and he drove in a run.

Troup surged to a 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning thanks to the solo shot by Bliss and the two-run home run by Williams, but Auburn exploded for 10 runs in the bottom of the inning.

Troup scored three more runs in the top of the third on a two-run home run by Doughman and McCurry’s RBI double.

Auburn had 13 hits and three home runs against a trio of Troup pitchers, and the game ended after five innings because of the run rule.

Troup will return to its Region 5-AAAA schedule today with a home game against Central-Carroll, with first pitch set for 5:55 p.m.

Troup is 8-1 in the region, and it trails Cartersville (8-0) with three region games remaining.
