Mrs. Joan Elizabeth Pope Mappin, age 84, of LaGrange, passed away on April 17, 2018, at her residence. 

Mrs. Mappin was born on Feb. 17, 1934, in Bronx, New York to the late Tommy Lee Pope and Irene Kendrick Pope. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughters, Cecilia Mary Burdette and Deborah Leigh Mappin and a sister, Barbara Cash. Survivors include her husband, John Bernard Mappin; sons, Harold Tucker Smith, Robert Charles Smith (Gena) and Joseph Samuel Hudson (Candy); sister, Thelma Irene Ward; nine grandchildren, four great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren; extended family and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 19, 2018, at 2 p.m. at the Higgins LaGrange Chapel with interment to follow at Shadowlawn Cemetery.
