Big day for Callaway tennis teams

ATLANTA – It was a winning day for the Callaway High tennis teams.

Facing Washington in the first round of the Class AA state tournament, both Callaway teams won easily to advance to the round of 16.

“They were very excited,” Callaway coach April Bunn said. “They’re ready for the next match, they’re ready for more practices.”

Callaway’s teams will hit the road again next week to play Banks County in the second round.

“I’m very proud of them,” Bunn said. “They’re working hard, and it’s showing. They’re very proud of themselves as well.”

For Callaway’s girls’ team, Brooke Townsend won at number one singles, Madeline Sikes prevailed at number two singles, and Callie Shelton got the win at number three singles.

Sydney Ramirez and Casey Moon won at number one doubles, and Kelly Lin and Sammanthia Webster won at number two doubles.

In the boys’ match, Hyun Seonwoo got the win at number one singles, Sir Michael Johnson won at number two singles, and Jared Nation took the win at number three singles.

John Curtis and Austin Ozley won at number one doubles.
