Early voting to start Monday

Voters looking to take part in the upcoming primary elections won’t have to wait much longer.

Early voting will start Monday at the Troup County Government Center. Voting will take place from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Friday through May 18.

Early voting will also be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on May 12.

Election Day is officially May 22. Statewide, this year’s election includes a vote for governor, lieutenant governor, secretary of state, attorney general and state school superintendent, among many other positions. 

Locally, seats on the Troup County School Board and Troup County Commission are up for grabs, as well as several statewide representative positions and the federal representative for district 3 in the U.S. House of Representatives. 

Local candidates will take part in forums Monday and Tuesday at Del’avant Event Center. On Monday, candidates for the Troup County Commission and board of education district 7 will discuss their platforms from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. On Tuesday, candidates for state senator district 29 and house of representatives’ district 133 will talk about their campaigns from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
