Dear Editor,

Our youth have yet to be corrupted by the extreme divisiveness and political games of the red side vs. blue side — win at all costs. They have no stake in political games and they cannot be bought by the NRA.

They witness their friends, sisters and brothers, and their peers being murdered and lying in their own blood because of adult cowardice and fanaticism. They feel fear and uncertainty for their future.

No one, I repeat no one, wants to take away all of our guns (and yes, I am a gun owner). The idea is foolish and the act impossible. I see no need, however, for assault weapons designed for mass slaughter and whose sole purpose is to take human life.

We can and must use common sense and stand up against the mass paranoia of the gun lobby. It is up to us, the adults, to speak up and be heard.

The time to stand up is now.
