Mrs. Annie Margaret Scoggins Cupp, age 102, of Hogansville, passed away Tuesday, May 1, 2018, at her home.

Margaret was born March 29, 1916, in LaGrange, daughter of the late Ernest B. Scoggins and Flora Lee Pattillo Scoggins and granddaughter of the late John and Annie Stone Pattillo of Pattillo Road in LaGrange. Her grandfather was a Sunday school teacher and co-founder of Callaway Baptist Church, and her grandmother played organ and piano for the church. Margaret accepted Christ at a very early age and was a member of Union Baptist Church in St. Marks Community.

Mrs. Cupp was a lifelong resident of Troup County and retired from West Point Pepperell. Widowed at an early age, she raised her children with the help of her parents and then in later years, she cared for her parents until they passed away.

While she enjoyed flowers, gardening and fishing, the most important part of her life was being with and caring for her family. Margaret’s home was filled with flowers, home-cooked meals, laughter, and joy when everyone would gather around her harvest table to share love, stories and memories. For 20 years, she shared her life with her faithful companion, Kitty Cat Gracie Margaret.

Survivors include her son and daughter in-law, Mack and Carol Kitchens; daughter and son-in-law, Charlene and Sherrell Bartlett; sister, Gladys and Bob Myers; special niece, Iris Scoggins Stinson; grandchildren, Kim and Harvey Wilson, Mark and LeeAnn Kitchens, Kevin Kitchens, Micki and Mike McCullough, Melissa Bartlett, Mandy Bartlett, Marina and Chris Cadenelli; 13 great-grandchildren; nine great-great- grandchildren; the children of her second husband, Gene, Jimmy, Jerry, Fay and Glenda; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Mack M. Kitchens and Henry A. Cupp; brothers, Ralph V. Scoggins, James T. (Bill) Scoggins and Harvey Scoggins.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday in the chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home. The Rev. Harvey Wilson will officiate and interment will be in Hillview East Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Friday.
