A student was arrested at THINC Academy for possessing marijuana, Adderall and Vyvanse Wednesday, according to a police report.

Administration told police that a janitor smelled marijuana coming from the boy’s bathroom. After pulling video from outside the bathroom, administration noticed Jalen Melson, 18, was the only person there at the time, according to the police report.

School administers were given consent to search Melson’s backpack and found an Adderall pill and a Vyvanse pill and a cigar filled with marijuana. According to the police report, there was also a bottle of Sprite with a pink tint found in his backpack.

Melson told administration he put Robitussin in the bottle and had also sprinkled half of his Adderall pill in it.

According to Troup County Jail arrest/ release reports, Melson is charged with possession of a schedule II controlled substance, possession of controlled substances not in the original container and possession of marijuana less than an ounce.

“We enforce a zero tolerance for illegal substances within any building of Troup County School System,” said Yolanda Stephen, the Troup County School System director of public relations.
