It’s a sport that has meant so much to her.

LaGrange High’s Sierra Hall began cheerleading nearly 15 years ago, and it has been an important part of her life ever since then.

While her time as a high-school cheerleader has come to a close, she isn’t ready to give up the sport quite yet.

Hall has signed a letter of intent to join the competitive cheerleading team at Brenau University, and she’ll enroll at the school this fall.

“I’m really excited,” Hall said. “I didn’t think I was going to be able to do this in college. To have the opportunity to go on a scholarship is really great for me. I’m excited about it.”

Hall celebrated her decision last week during a ceremony in the school’s media center.

Many of those closest to Hall, including her teammates, coaches, friends and teachers were on hand to support her.

Among that group was Stephanie Hall, who is not only Sierra’s mother, but also her long-time coach.

Stephanie Hall was the LaGrange coach during the 2016-2017 season when the team finished third during the state competition in Columbus.

“I’ve been cheering since I was four, and my mom has pretty much been my coach since I was little,” Hall said. “And all these people that are here have grown up with me doing this. So it just means a whole lot to have them here, to be supporting me.”

Sierra Hall enjoyed plenty of team success during her time at LaGrange High, and she also earned her share of individual accolades.

Hall was twice selected as a high-school All-American, and she was invited to be a member of the National Cheerleaders Association staff.

From a team standpoint, Sierra Hall’s junior season stands out.

LaGrange had a tremendous season, capped by the third-place showing at state in November of 2016.

That team finished first in three competitions and was second two other times, including the state sectional.

“It’s good to look back on it and see that I was with all these people, and my mom coaching us,” Hall said. “Getting the highest score in history, it’s really cool. Hopefully I’ll get to make some more memories, but it’s really sad to be leaving.”

Hall is, nonetheless, eager to begin her new journey, and she believes she has found the right spot.

“It feels at home to me,” she said. “I’m excited about it.”
