It’s a one-game season.

The Callaway Cavaliers and Thomasville Bulldogs will meet at 3:30 p.m. today in game three of their Class AA quarterfinal series.

The winner will advance to the state semifinals, while the loser will see its season come to a close.

Callaway forced a game three by beating Thomasville 2-1 in 10 innings in Wednesday’s second game.

Thomasville won the series opener 9-3.

“I told them, you fight like heck to get to a game three, and anything can happen,” Callaway head coach Dusty Hubbard said.

With the exception of Wesley Marchman, who threw nine innings in the second game, every Callaway pitcher will be available today.

That includes Walt Stewart, who threw a perfect 10th inning to get the save in game two.

Also available is game one starter Chandler Lott, who can still throw 26 pitches.

“We’ve got Walt, we’ve got Barber, we’ve got Dawson,” Hubbard said.  “We’ve got four guys.”

A handful of other Callaway players could also pitch if needed.

The winner of today’s game will play Benedictine (Savannah) in the semifinals next week.

Benedictine beat Social Circle 11-1 and 9-1 on Wednesday.
