Mr. Charles Lesley Meek

Mr. Charles Lesley Meek, age 82, of LaGrange, passed away on May 9, 2018, at the Piedmont Newnan Hospital. Mr. Meek was born on Dec. 31, 1935, in River, Kentucky to the late John Meek and Mintie Borders Meek. 

 In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife of over 50 years, Edith Ray Mixon Meek. Mr. Meek proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. Charles was a pioneer in the information age. He began working with computers in the 1960s, working through the years on Microwave Sites, Satellite Systems and with MicroNet on the Earth Station Project. He was an avid gardener and loved to read. His hobbies included beekeeping, and he was a member of Rosemont Baptist Church.  

Survivors include his wife, Jean Carolyn McMinn Meek; sons, John L. Meek and Oscar L. Meek (Kirsten); daughters, Rhonda Nielsen (Paul), Nancy Kendall (Lynn), Sharlon Collier and Patricia Liechty (Neil); grandchildren, Anne Macon, Danielle Stephenson, Cameron Kendall, Sarah Nielsen, Marlin Collier, Savannah Meek, Felicity Liechty, Delaney Meek and Silas Liechty; three great-grandchildren; brother, Fred Meek; extended family and friends. 

Services for Mr. Meek will be held on Friday, May 11, 2018, at 2 p.m. at the Higgins LaGrange Chapel with the Rev. Max McCord officiating. 

Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. 

 A reception will follow the service at the Nutwood Plantation, 1339 Upper Big Springs Rd, LaGrange, Georgia 30241.
