Two veteran Georgia radio personalities have been named as recipients of the 2018 Georgia Radio Hall of Fame Founders and Directors Award, according to a press release from the Georgia Radio Hall of Fame.

Outdoorsman, author and media personality O’Neill Williams and gardening expert Walter Reeves have been named recipients of the award.

Williams graduated from Emory University with a degree in economics and discovered he enjoys telling stories and hunting and fishing. He started hosting an outdoor sports program on cable. That program is still aired on outlets such as NBC Sports, Destination America, Fox Sports South and Fox Sun Sports Network.

He also started hosting “O’Neil Outside” on WSB in 1991.

Reeves started hosting a 15-minute program on V-103 in 1980. In 1984, he moved to WGST, and in 1994, he became host of WSB’s “Lawn and Garden Show.” In January, he celebrated 24 years on WSB. He writes a weekly column for the Atlanta Journal-Constitution and distributes a bi-weekly email gardening newsletter.

The awards ceremony will take place Saturday, Oct. 20 at the Callaway Conference Center in LaGrange. It’ll feature the induction of Legacy Georgia Radio Professionals and includes the first announcement of the 2018 career achievement inductees.

The night begins with a reception at 5 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. and dinner afterwards. The event is open to the public and tickets will be available soon.

The Georgia Radio Hall of Fame moved its headquarters to LaGrange in 2018.
