Mrs. Linda carol Preston

Linda Carol Preston was born Dec. 25,1941, preceded in death by James AD Preston, husband; her brother, Fred Ballard; mother, Myrtle Knight; father, Albert Knight;  and sister, Barbara Simmons; leaving to carry on, her sisters, Mary Kennedy and Catherine Bowen; daughter, Terri Preston; grandsons, Conor and Collin Koenig; granddaughters, Emily, Claire and Leah Zilich; niece and nephews, Kate Rowland; Clete Bowen; Marian, Chris, Michael and Stephanie Simmons; Lisa Price; Cecelia Nations and Monty Ballard; Zach and Paige Rowland; Justin Bowen; Lydia, Luke and Seth Price; friends JoAnn and Steve Griffin and Hertha Beedy when she passed from this world on May 10, 2018.

Linda was a graduate of Purdue University with a master’s in English and paralegal studies. A beloved teacher, she taught at Purdue and Troup County Comprehensive High School. She received The Golden Apple teaching award, Troup County Teacher of the Year award, was a published poet and practicing editor of community development grants supporting national economic growth in low-income areas. She was a member of the Women’s Business League, Dunson Baptist Church, an avid reader and gardener, a supporter of literacy and the arts and an advocate for grammatical accuracy. Linda was also a world traveler having most recently visited China, Bali and Egypt.

Her capacity to embrace life brought joy to all those who came to know her. Services will be held at Dunson Baptist Church at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 12, 2018.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers those wishing to express sympathy and support make donations to the Linda and James Preston Scholarship Fund with checks payable to Troup County Comprehensive High School In Memorium.
