The West Georgia Homeschool Drama Club in conjunction with LaGrange Piano, presented the musical “Rock Around the Block — a 1950s Musical” on May 18, at First Baptist on the Square. Under the direction of Noelle Reed, the 15 homeschoolers in drama club (ages 8-15) worked on every aspect of the production including choosing the show, helping with the choreography, costumes and set building. 

“It’s been incredible to see how hard they work and the community they build when they have a common goal and purpose,” Reed said. “The goal is for them to run the club themselves with guidance from me, and its been an incredible experience for them to learn to take leadership, develop their communication skills, and still have fun.”

Last fall, the drama club performed “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever” in December. 

“They were ready for a musical,” Reed said. “They worked hard, became better thespians, and their friendships keep growing. They’re already looking forward to their fall show.”
