Coincidence and opportunity

Coincidences happen every day, but it is not everyday that those coincidences have a positive impact on people in the community. On Friday, that is just what happened.

Local children, businesses and shelters got to enjoy a free doughnut on National Doughnut Day because a truck was coincidently in an accident. However, the process of getting those doughnuts to local charities was anything but a coincidence.

Terry Stanford, who made the call, has volunteered at several local events and knew who to call when opportunity knocked.

Because he called the LaGrange Police Department’s outreach officer, thousands of doughnuts were delivered to worthy causes within a short period of time.

We’d like to thank Stanford for making that call and encourage our readers to be on the lookout for the next opportunity to make somebody’s day whether it is by volunteering at an event, donating to a worthy cause or making the call when you find a metaphoric “4,000 doughnuts” on your doorstep.
