Mr. John Bernard Mappin, age 95, of LaGrange, passed away on June 11, 2018, at his residence.  Mr. Mappin was born on Nov. 6, 1922, in Atlanta, Georgia, to the late George Washington Mappin and Cora McLean Mappin.

He proudly served his country in the United States Navy, followed by a career in the Banking Industry. Most recently, Mr. Mappin retired as Vice President of First Georgia Bank. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Joan Elizabeth Pope Mappin; children, Debbie Mappin and Celie Burdette. Survivors include his children, Robert C. Smith (Gena), Joe Hudson (Candy) and Harold T. Smith; grandchildren, Pam Hancock, Mary Lay, Scott Hudson, Corey Hudson, Chadd Smith, Matthew Smith, Harper Smith, Tyler Smith and Tara Smith; great grandchildren, Amy Booth, Sara Ross and Beth Ryan; eight great-great grandchildren; sister in law, Thelma Pope Ward; sister, Betty Jo Summers; extended family and friends. 

Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, June 13, 2018, at the Shadowlawn Cemetery with Pastor Cade Farris officiating. 

Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 2 p.m. until service hour.
