Three men arrested after 12 bags of marijuana found during traffic stop

Three men were arrested by Georgia State Patrol for drug trafficking on I-85 South Wednesday night.

According to GSP, 32-year-old Edward Spruell, of Modesto, California, and Kion Hawthorne, 21, and Teniro Washington, 36, both of Mobile, Alabama, were found with 12 bags of marijuana valued at $22,751.74.

According to GSP, a trooper observed the vehicle the men were in following too closely to a truck and pulled it over near mile marker 14. Along with the marijuana, the trooper also found U.S. currency valued at $28,900 and a stolen Taurus Millennium 9mm pistol.

According to Troup County Jail arrest/release reports, Hawthorne was charged with possession of a firearm or knife during certain felonies, theft by receiving and marijuana trafficking.

According to Troup County Jail arrest/release reports, Spruell was charged with possession of a firearm or knife during certain felonies, theft by receiving, marijuana trafficking and following too closely.

According to Troup County Jail arrest/release reports, Washington was charged with possession of a firearm or knife during certain felonies, theft by receiving and marijuana trafficking. His bond was $11,000.
