Man leads TCSO on high speed chase

The Troup County Sheriff’s Department is looking for a man who led deputies on a high-speed chase on Thursday evening.

The driver, identified as Shannon Stonewall Riggs of Tyrone, Georgia, fled on foot, according to a Troup County Sheriff’s Office report. During a vehicle search, officers found a blue pill suspected to be Ecstasy.

The pursuit started when a sheriff’s deputy attempted to pull over a gold Toyota Tundra on I-185 North near mile marker 44. According to the report from the TCSO, the vehicle was going 95 miles per hour in a 70 mile per hour zone. Riggs refused to stop and fled, according to the police report.

The pursuit went through the Mountville community and continued onto I-85 South at Lafayette Parkway. The driver bailed out on foot at the 17-mile marker, according to the press release.

Deputies and LaGrange Police Department officers searched the area and were unable to locate the driver.

Warrants have been issued for Riggs for possession of schedule one controlled substance, fleeing and attempting to elude officers, speeding, failure to stop for a stop sign and obstruction.

Riggs is a white male and was last seen wearing no shirt and dark pants.
