The LaGrange Police Department is investigating a property dispute that resulted in two men being taken to area hospitals with gunshot wounds.

According to a LPD press release, officers responded to a call of people fighting at the 900 block of Troup Street Sunday at 12:53 p.m. Officers were told a person had been shot and was lying in the street, but by the time they arrived that victim had been taken to the hospital.

Officers located two gunshot victims at the WellStar West Georgia Medical Center emergency room. One victim was shot in the buttocks area and was released from WellStar West Georgia Medical Center. The second victim was struck in the lower leg and transported to an Atlanta area hospital for treatment, according to the press release.

The initial investigation determined the victims were involved in a dispute over property, according to the press release. The parties were then involved in a physical fight when someone produced a firearm and fired several shots. The suspect or suspects had not yet been identified, but the LPD was in the process of interviewing several witnesses, according to the press release.
