Jonathan Foster is enjoying a big summer in Michigan.

Foster, a former Troup High standout who recently completed his junior season at Florida State, is playing for the Kalamazoo Growlers of the Northwoods League.

Foster played in his eighth game on Sunday, and he’s been knocking opposing pitchers around.

Foster, a catcher, has 10 hits in 23 at-bats, good for a .435 batting average, and he has three home runs and seven RBIs.

Foster’s best game came in a 10-5 victory over Madison on Saturday.

Foster, hitting in the fifth spot in the order, was 4-for-5 with two doubles, one RBI, and one run scored.

Foster had two hits and an RBI in a win over Wisconsin on June 12, and he has a hit in all but one of the games he’s played in.

Thanks in part to Foster’s hot bat, Kalamazoo was 19-7 after Sunday’s games, and it is in second place in the league’s south division.

Foster, a four-year starter at Troup, began his collegiate career at Auburn in 2016, and he spent his sophomore season at Chattahoochee Valley Community College.

Foster transferred to Florida State for his junior season, and he was a part-time player for a team that enjoyed a successful year and made it to the NCAA tournament.

Foster played in 21 games with six starts, and he had six hits, two home runs, and seven RBIs.

Foster most memorable moment came in a game in March when he hit a walk-off home run in an 8-7 victory over Louisville.

Foster will return to Florida State for his senior season in 2019.
