Man shot in the leg on South Lee Street

A man was shot in the leg after an altercation occurred outside a residence at the 400 block of South Lee Street Sunday morning. According to a LaGrange Police Department press release, the victim said the unknown suspect was at a birthday party at the residence before shooting a gun outside around 4 a.m.

“The suspect, who had obviously been drinking, couldn’t find his keys, got upset, went outside and according to the victim, started firing some rounds, he assumes in the air just because he heard it,” LPD Det. Ley Wynne said.

The victim went outside and confronted the suspect. According to the press release, an altercation ensued and as the victim tried to distance himself, several shots were fired and he was struck in the leg.

The victim told police the suspect left in a blue vehicle. The victim was taken to WellStar West Georgia Medical Center and was later treated and released, according to Wynne.
