Troup County perfect in pool play

COCHRAN – The Troup County National all-stars are making it look easy.

After rolling to a 4-0 record in the Dixie Youth Baseball 7-8-year-old district tournament, Troup County breezed to four more wins in pool play during the state tournament.

Overall, Troup County is 8-0 in tournament play, and it has outscored its opponents 106-17.

Troup County will be back in Cochran on Friday for a six-team, double-elimination tournament with a trip to the Dixie Youth Baseball World Series on the line.

Troup completed a perfect stay in pool play with an 11-1 victory over North Macon on Sunday.

Brody Buc Cofield led the offensive effort with two hits and two RBIs, and he hit a home run.

Ben Schory also had two hits and two RBIs, and Cason McGill had two hits and an RBI.

Trace Bailey had two hits, Laken Tippy, Bear Napier and Hayden Browning each had a hit and an RBI, and Riley Cockrell and Wyatt Martin each had a hit.

Troup won twice on Saturday.

After beating Baconton 17-2, Troup National thumped Jones County 13-3.

Brody Buc Cofield had three hits, including two doubles, and four RBIs against Jones County.

Ben Schory and Trace Bailey each had three hits and two RBIs, and leadoff hitter Sam Burns had three hits.

Laken Tippy and Cason McGill each had two hits and an RBI, Wyatt Martin had two hits, Grant Chaffin had a hit and two RBIs, and Riley Cockrell and Bear Napier had one hit apiece.

Troup County got home runs from Grant Chaffin and Ben Schory in the 17-2 win over Baconton.

Chaffin finished with two hits and four RBIs, Riley Cockrell had three hits and two RBIs, and Wyatt Martin had three hits with an RBI.

Sam Burns and Trace Bailey each had two hits and two RBIs, Bear Napier and Schory each had two hits and an RBI, Hayden Browning had two hits, Brody Buc Cofield and Davis Keese each had one hit, and Cason McGill drove in a run.

On Friday, Troup County opened state play with a 14-8 victory over North Macon.

Grant Chaffin had three hits and an RBI, Trace Bailey and Laken Tippy each had two hits and two RBIs, Hayden Browning, Sam Burns and Brody Buc Cofield each had two hits and an RBI, Riley Cockrell had two hits, Cason McGill had a hit and two RBIs, Wyatt Martin and Bear Napier each had a hit, and Davis Keese drove in a run.
