Twenty participants from six states will be in LaGrange to take part in a week-long intensive storytelling workshop, which began July 8, led by internationally known storyteller Donald Davis.

The workshop, held at Hills & Dales Estate, will include three free public performances by the participants on  July 11 at 11 a.m. in the LaGrange College Chapel, on July 12 at 1:30 p.m. at  Bellevue and July 13 at 7:30 p.m. at the LSPA Black Box Theater.

This is the third year Davis has conducted a workshop in LaGrange. Hosted by the Azalea Storytelling Committee, Hills & Dales Estate and LaGrange College, the workshop is designed to help participants tap into their memories to shape personal and family-based stories.  The public performances allow participants to share the stories they have crafted with an audience.

The workshop furthers the mission of the Azalea Storytelling Festival and the Lafayette Society for Performing  Arts to provide year-round storytelling events in the community.

This fall, the seventh annual Stories in the Garden at Hills & Dales Estate will be held on Oct. 14, and feature national storyteller Tim Lowry.

The winter event, A Taste of Storytelling, will be held on Feb. 10, 2019, at LaGrange Memorial Library and will feature regional storytellers.

Spring brings the 23rd annual Azalea Storytelling Festival March 1-3, 2019. Along with Donald Davis, the festival will feature returning tellers Ed Stivender, Tim Lowry and newcomer Josh Goforth.
