As a part of its mission week, Rosemont Baptist Church visited multiple law enforcement agencies Tuesday with baskets of food to say thank you. Rosemont parishioner Sandra Walker said the church has done mission week for about five years.

The church started preparing lunches for officers at 8:45 a.m. Tuesday.

“We do Mission Week LaGrange because we want to reach as many people as we can to let them know that God loves them, and there’s a place for them at Rosemont Baptist Church if they don’t have a church home,” Walker said. “We give goodies in [the baskets] that they can just come in off the road and grab and go, and we just want to make sure that they know that they are loved and appreciated in the community. We want them to go home at the end of their shifts to [their] family.”

Sheriff James Woodruff said the sheriff’s office appreciated the gesture.

“It’s very much appreciated because as I told them, so many times people will call us and tell us what we’re not doing right or what we’re doing wrong,” Woodruff said. “For them to step forward and say ‘we appreciate you, we appreciate your service and your sacrifice’ really means a lot to us.”

Rosemont Pastor Adam Camp said the week is an opportunity to share the gospel with the community. He said his favorite thing about the week is seeing how involved his parishioners get in the community.

“Just seeing our church mobilize for our community is very exciting for me,” Camp said.

Other projects for the mission week included delivering baskets with fresh produce from their community garden to families, reaching out to children in the Calumet community and renovating an apartment for incoming missionaries.

“Trying to reach our community at a lot of different levels is what this week is about for us,” Camp said.
