On Wednesday the Daily News wrote about some of Rosemont Baptist Church’s outreach efforts during its mission week.

We are always excited to see citizens working to make our community a better place, and this church went all out this week helping local law enforcement, missionaries, elderly citizens and families in need. These efforts strengthen our community ties by letting people know that somebody cares and is available to help.

They let law enforcement know that their work is appreciated. After all, these are the men and women who respond to calls in the middle of the night. They work every day to keep our county safe at all hours, in what is often a thankless job.

This church let visiting missionaries know that they have a home, even when they are away from home. 

They let fellow citizens know that someone is willing and able to be there for them, even beyond this mission week.

We know that other churches in the community have also performed outreach in the community, and we applaud them as well for caring shining the light of God’s love on the community.

We also humbly ask that this spirit of service be an example to the community for the rest of the year. There are plenty of ways to give back — with a visit to a local nursing home, a word of thanks to a local law enforcement officer, a prayer for a missionary or a donation to a local food closet. 

There are small acts that we are all capable of doing every day to make our community a better place. What will you do?
