Mr. Darden Daniel

Mr. Darden Daniel, 95, of LaGrange, Georgia, peacefully passed away Sunday, July 15, 2018, at his home.

Mr. Daniel was born Feb. 7, 1923, in Franklin, Georgia, to the late John B. Daniel and Lula White Daniel.

He was a member of Westside Church of God and retired from the Georgia Department of Transportation.

Mr. Daniel proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II. During his deployment, he was stationed in different countries including France, Germany, Belgium, Holland, Czechoslovakia and England, where he was on D-Day. While in England, his duties were in the officers’ mess hall and had the distinct honor of serving Gen. Eisenhower, Gen. Omar Bradley and General S. Patton. Mr. Daniel was an avid farmer and will be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor and love for his entire family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Grace Alice Hall Daniel; son, Phillip Darden Daniel; siblings, Estelle Shirey, Dent Daniel, Thomas Andrew Daniel, Hubert Daniel, Mary Edna Shirey and Virginia Wilson.

Survivors include his son, Larry Daniel of LaGrange, Georgia; daughter, Becky and husband, Jim Ramsey of Hendersonville, North Carolina; eight grandchildren, Ashley and Glenn Towler and Laura and Glen Major all of LaGrange, Georgia, Teri and Charlie Fischer of Roswell, Georgia, Amanda and Hugh Wilson of Manhattan, New York, Chad and Kristin Ramsey of West Grove, Pennsylvania, Ross and Jill Ramsey of McKinney, Texas, Sarah and Keith Haas of Marietta, Georgia, Patrick and Shannon Sullivan of Atlanta, Georgia; 16 great grandchildren; life-long friend and caregiver, Christella Tucker; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

The gathering of family and friends will be 2 p.m. until 3 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday, July 17, 2018, in the Chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary. Burial will follow in Shadowlawn Cemetery. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to the Pulmonary Section of Troup Cares, Inc.
